Who’s Behind NextGen

NextGen is led by a team who genuinely understand young people  both professionally and through lived experience.

Chris and Amanda are qualified counsellors who bring therapeutic knowledge, emotional safety, and clinical oversight to everything we do. Their role is to ensure that all programs support mental health, emotional regulation and individual goals, while still feeling relaxed, engaging and participant-led.

Dylan plays a key role in shaping our technology-based programs. As an avid gamer, Dylan helped identify a major gap in the way support services communicate with young people. He recognised that many conversations between supports and participants were missing the mark  not because young people didn’t want support, but because the approach didn’t speak their language.

By bridging gaming, technology, and connection, Dylan has helped create spaces where young people feel understood, comfortable and willing to engage.

Together, the NextGen team combines therapeutic expertise, real-world understanding and interest-led engagement to create supports that feel safe, relevant and effective.

We don’t just work with young people — we listen to them.

How We Do This

We focus on connection, belonging, and doing things together.

Our programs run in small groups and are based around community, social, and recreational activities like gaming, technology, and shared interests. This makes it easier to connect with others, join in, and feel comfortable being part of a group  without pressure.

You don’t need to be confident, loud, or good at talking to belong here. Everyone is supported to take part at their own pace, in ways that feel right for them.

The goal is simple: help you feel more comfortable being involved, more confident around others, and more independent over time.

What Our Programs Offer & How They Help

Through group activities, we support you to work on:

  • Making friends and feeling part of a group

  • Social confidence and communication

  • Teamwork and cooperation

  • Life skills for everyday independence

  • Exploring interests and hobbies

  • Career ideas and future pathways

  • Transitioning from teen life into young adulthood

  • Managing everyday ups and downs

These programs support NDIS goals around community participation, social engagement and capacity building in a way that feels relaxed, inclusive and enjoyable.

What We Do Differently

We make participation easier, more accessible, and better value.

Our core programs focus on group and centre-based community participation, but we understand that some participants benefit from additional, individual support alongside group activities.

That’s why we offer optional add-ons, tailored to individual needs:

Transport Support

We provide transport to and from our facility, removing one of the biggest barriers to attendance.

This means:

  • Less stress for families and carers

  • Consistent attendance for participants

  • No need to organise separate support workers just for transport

Because we manage transport as part of the program, families don’t need to pay for workers to wait around before or after sessions. This helps reduce unnecessary support hours and allows NDIS funding to go further.

Optional Individual Support

Participants can also choose to add:

  • A 30-minute individual therapy session, focused on building skills for everyday life, adjustment, and increasing confidence to participate in groups and the community

  • Access to a qualified counsellor, for participants who would benefit from additional emotional support, guidance, or help navigating life changes

These supports are optional and designed to complement group participation, not replace it. They help some participants feel more confident and supported so they can get the most out of group programs.

Our approach is flexible, participant-led, and designed to support meaningful community participation while making practical and efficient use of NDIS funding.

We believe in the potential of every young person. They can embrace who they are, define their future and positively impact the world.
